Retail Sales and its impact on Commodity market

Retail sales measures the total receipts at stores that sell merchandise and related services to final consumers. Sales are by retail and food services stores. Data are collected from the monthly retail trade survey conducted by the US Bureau of the census. Essentially the retail sale covers the durable and non-durables portions of consumer spending. Consumer spending are typically accounts for about two third of GDP and therefore a key elements in economic growth. Retail sales data impact on commodity market. Higher retail sales are positive for base metal and crude but negative for Bullion, while lower retail sales are negative for base metal and crude but positive for Bullion.
